Biography

Sister Florinda came to the Shakers with her parents and seven siblings in 1842, and signed the Mount Lebanon North Family covenant in 1846. She moved to the Center Family later that year, but moved to the Church Family by 1850. She worked in the dairy and as a seamstress and cloakmaker, and then was an office deaconess from 1873-1876. She was appointed eldress in the Center Family in 1889, and served in that capacity until 1896.
