The Brethren's Workshop was the center of a range of the North Family's industries, including their packaged seed business, broom-making, and cabinetry. Built in 1829, it has been through many changes over time. Those changes can be seen not only in the building itself, but in signatures, sketches, dates, markings and other remnants left by its inhabitants.

Join a tour inside the Workshop to examine these pieces of the past up close and personal, while learning more about some of the stories and information that they tell us. Tours will leave from the Forge on Saturday, April 8 at 2:00PM and Saturday, April 22, at 3:00PM. The tours are $15, and free for members.

Supported by a Vision Grant from Humanities NY, the museum has been documenting and researching these "writings on the walls" to produce a public program taking visitors inside the workshop to examine them up-close and learn more about the kinds of stories they tell. Over 300 photographs were taken in doing so. Following the tour, participants will be invited to leave messages of their own to be documented along with the project's findings.
