Museum makes archival finding aid available online

March 07, 2016

For the first time, researchers and scholars are able to access an invaluable resource for navigating the Museum’s archival records in the form of an extensive finding aid, now available for reading and download online.

The Museum’s manuscript collections are arranged based on the administrative structure of the Mount Lebanon Shaker community, and reflects that community’s hierarchical organization, beginning with the Central Ministry at Mount Lebanon. Even for those with research interests in different Shaker communities, the finding aid for the Museum’s collection is a useful tool for insights into the variety of records kept by the Shakers.

Researchers can make an appointment to visit the archives by contacting Jerry Grant, Director of Collections and Research, at: or call 518-794-9100 extension 219.
