Household & Workshop Accessories

In addition to the furnishings for dwellings and workshops, the Museum has in its collection many smaller objects that were used in those spaces.

Containers such as oval and round boxes, buckets, crockery, tinware, firewood and kindling boxes, and bottles; lighting devices; cleaning tools such as brooms, brushes, mops, and dustpans; and personal necessities such as combs, eye glasses, and canes, lap boards and lap desks, travel trunks and bags.

Personal necessities that can often be identified as being used by a particular brother or sister add richness to the Museum’s ability to develop biographical sketches and exhibitions.
