A Domestic Journal of Daily Occurances [sic] Kept by David Gill Beginning January 1st [1878-December 18, 1878] and others, 1878-1890. Label on cover reads “David Gill’s Journal.” A record of daily events, membership changes, deaths, official appointments, travel and meetings with occasional yearly summaries and membership lists. No entries were made from May 1885-November 1889. The journal was probably kept by one or more of the Sisters during the early 1880's and frequently duplicates the text from the Deaconesses’ journals (NOC 10458 and 10459).

Shane Rothe

Curatorial Associate

Shane Rothe (they/them) joined Shaker Museum in July 2023, working with independent curator Maggie Taft on an exhibition for the new museum space in Chatham. Shane is an artist as well as a curator and continues to create in the mediums of painting, sculpture, writing, and performance. Shane holds a BFA from CalArts and an MA in art history and curatorial studies from the University of Chicago.
